Full of enthusiasm, we have launched a new project dedicated to the protected natural area of Putna Vrancea Natural Park, with the aim of improving the conservation status of key biodiversity elements that define the park and creating opportunities for sustainable development of local communities through ecotourism.
Among the essential activities is the restoration of grassland habitats through traditional management practices and the removal of invasive vegetation, helping to protect rare butterfly and insect species.
Another key activity focuses on restoring aquatic ecosystems by restocking the park’s rivers with 40,000 native trout fingerlings.
The project also addresses the issue of human-bear coexistence by aiming to reduce conflicts and prevent bear habituation in the park’s tourist areas through the installation of bear-proof public waste bins.
In parallel, a wildlife monitoring network will be established, including cameras and sensors, to support biodiversity protection and prevent poaching.
Preparing the self-assessment dossier for obtaining the „Țara Vrancei” ecotourism destination certification, organizing an annual high-visibility event dedicated to promoting tourism in the Putna Vrancea Natural Park, producing short films and a photography album to showcase the park’s natural and cultural values—these are just a few of the activities proposed within the project to transform the Putna Vrancea Natural Park into a top ecotourism destination.
The project also addresses the needs of people with reduced mobility by creating a mobile virtual wildlife observatory, offering them an innovative way to explore the park’s rich fauna.
Recognizing the importance of environmental education for communities around the park, an educational space will also be set up, providing activities for children and young people to learn about the importance of protecting the environment.
